The University of the Free State is still accepting applications for the 2024-2025 academic year. Anyone who has not yet applied for admission to the University of the Free State for the academic year 2024-2025 can do so now because the application window is open until September 2024. The application period will end in September 2024, when the university closes all applications and begins the selection process, which began on April 1, 2023. The deadline for applying to the University of the Free State has been extended until September 2024.

Application Closing Dates for 2024-2025 at the University of the Free State
The university of the Free State open its online application form on April 01 2023 for the undergraduate programmes offered on the Bloemfontein and Qwaqwa Campuses in 2024. Applications to study any Access Programme (AP) offered on the South Campus and the sub-regions in 2024 are open on 1 July 2023.

Closing Date for Application Fee payment for 2024-2025
The University of Free State does not require an application or administrative fees for applying online. APPLICATION IS FREE OF CHARGE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF THE FREE STATE.
UFS Document submission and upload deadlines
Despite the fact that the deadline has been extended until September 2023, we encourage you to apply and submit all documents as soon as possible. The following documents must be received by the University of the Free State admission office by the deadline, either online or by mail, depending on the qualification for which you wish to apply. Upload copies of the following in PDF or JPEG format when you apply for undergraduate studies:
- Your ID if you are a South African citizen
- Your passport if you are an international student
- Your parent’s ID or passport if you are younger than 18
- Your final Grade 11 results or the equivalent thereof with the school’s stamp
- Your mid-year Grade 12 results or the equivalent thereof
- Grade 12 certificate or the equivalent thereof if you have already matriculated
- Your academic record, only if you are/were a student at another institution of higher learning
- USAf accreditation from the examination board for South African universities
- Universities South Africa (USAf) Certificate of Exemption is required if you do not have an Endorsed South African Senior Certificate.
- Mobile phone and an active email address
How to Apply online at the University of the Free State
You must submit your application as soon as possible because the application period is limited. Because the application window at the University of the Free State is still open, apply now by following the instructions below. Do not wait any longer; now is the time to apply for a good course at the University of the Free State for the 2024 admission year.
Step № 1: OFFICIAL WEBSITE
- Apply online. Visit https://apply.ufs.ac.za
Step № 2: COMPLETE YOUR FORMS
- Your application is submitted. You will receive a student number and acknowledgement of your application. If you have not submitted the required documents, you will be requested to do so in order to finalise your application
Step № 3: SELECTION
- Your application is evaluated by the university. Should your evaluation be positive, you will receive a conditional offer to study – SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF SPACE.
- Selection programmes are excluded. If you have indicated in your application that you require on-campus residence, you will also receive correspondence from Housing and Residence Affairs.
- Note that qualifying for your programme of choice does not guarantee admission.
Step № 4: FUNDING
- Source and secure financial support for your studies
Step № 5: FINAL OFFER
- When the final Grade 12 results are released in January 2024, all applications will be re-evaluated; you will receive a final offer if your evaluation is positive. Take note that meeting the minimum admission requirements for your programme of choice does not guarantee admission.
Step № 6: ACCEPT OFFER
- Accept the offer online within the stipulated time frame. If you fail to accept the final offer before the deadline, it will be withdrawn, and you will lose your space. Note that limited spaces are available.
Step № 7: REGISTRATION
- Pay the prescribed first payment before registration. You can move into the residence on campus where you have been placed, or into off-campus accommodation, and then start your academic activities, including orientation, academic advice, and registration
