The National Student Financial Aid Scheme NSFAS administration officially opened the online application form to all prospective South African applicants on September 28, 2023, and it will close on January 31, 2024. Those interested in receiving financial assistance for their tertiary education should visit the Nsfas website at www.nsfas.org.za and fill out the online application form before the deadline.
All applicants for admissions in 2024 must use the application portal. Manual applications for Nsfas approval, on the other hand, will be accepted in 2024-2025. Download it and fill it out by hand with a pen if that’s what you prefer. You can also apply using WhatsApp, a mobile app, or the USSD code.
When Should You Apply to Nsfas for Funding in 2024?
Applications for Nsfas funding for your undergraduate courses will be accepted beginning September 28, 2023. Beginning September 28, 2023, Tvet and university applicants for Nsfas funding will be able to apply. From September 28, 2023, to January 31, 2024, Nsfas online enrollment will be available. You can apply for Nsfas funding to help pay for your higher education if you are a South African citizen or a SASSA grant recipient. Nsfas will not fund any postgraduate courses, except for a few courses listed on www.nsfas.org.za.

- Students that have completed a previous qualification.
- Students with a combined household income of more than R350 000 per annum.
- Students who have already applied, qualified and received funding. They are automatically funded for the duration of their studies provided they pass their modules and meet the academic requirements.

Nsfas Online Application Documents Required for 2024-2025
You will need to submit the documents below for review:
- A photocopy of your South African identification document or card
- Nsfas will require your parents’ or guardians’ ID cards.
- If your parents have died, please provide a death certificate.
- To replace ID documents, a student under the age of 18 must have a birth certificate.
- a copy of your highest academic degree
- A fully completed consent form signed by those on the forms who matter
- Download and complete the DISABILITY ANNEXURE A form if you are a student with a disability.
- At least three of your relatives should serve as witnesses. Nsfas will need their ID cards.
- Students who are working at the time of application must provide proof of annual income. This could be your pay stub, bank statement, or other documents showing how much you earn per year.

How to apply online for Nsfas for 2024
Follow the steps below to apply for Nsfas financial assistance for the 2024/2025 academic year.
- Enter www.nsfas.org.za/apply-online-2024 into your browser.
- To begin, go to the Create myNSFAS Account tab.
- Follow the steps below to create your account
- Select the Register tab.
- confirm and validate the data
- Enter your SA ID and full name
- Please enter your email address.
- Enter your phone number here.
- Make a strong password.
- Enter your password again to confirm it.
- Upload an official copy of your D
- Press the register button.
- Enter the ONE TIME PIN (OTP) that was sent to you, click submit, and then log out.
- Proceed to apply via the account you just created
- Click on the APPLY tab to access the online forms.
- Before you can proceed with the rest of the application, you must update your Nsfas account information.
- Upload all supporting documents for the Nsfas 2024 online application.
- To submit your Nsfas online application form for 2024-2025, click the submit button.
All applicants will be notified of their application status once NSFAS receives confirmation from the institution that an academic offer has been made to them. This will be communicated to you via SMS, email, and your myNSFAS account prior to the start of the academic year.
