The administration of North-West University (NWU) is officially inviting all interested prospective students to apply for the 2025-2026 admissions as the application window is now Open. When to Apply to North-West University (NWU) for 2025-2026
Applications for bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs or courses at North-West University (NWU) will be accepted beginning April 01, 2024. The application period for both domestic and international applicants at North-West University (NWU) will start on April 01, 2024. All undergraduate and postgraduate courses at North-West University (NWU) will be open for enrollment in 2025-2026 on April 01, 2024.

The online application for North-West University (NWU) is now open and will close on August 31, 2024. If you haven’t submitted your applications for 2025 admissions yet, you can do so as long as you do so within the deadlines.
Late applications will not be considered at North-West University (NWU) unless courses are still available after the deadline, which is 31 August 2024 for undergraduate students. For the academic year 2025-2026, all postgraduate programs will close on September 30, 2024.

Does NWU Requires an application fee for 2025-2026
The North-West University application fee is R575 and is non-refundable for the academic year 2025-2026. There is no application fee payable when you apply. For international students a fee of R575 is applicable.

What Documents Are Needed to Apply to North-West University Online
One (1) Certified Copy of each of the following documents is needed/required to apply to North-West University:
Undergrad. Documents Required
- Grade 12 results, grade 11 results (final results only) or a copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
- Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
- Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF.

How to Apply online to North-West University For 2025-2026
To apply for your undergraduate course, please follow the steps below:
- Log in to the application portal
- For online applications, visit the application portal at www.nwu.ac.za
- Choosing a New application.
- Register your Profile
- Go to create a new student number. Complete the boxes and enter a new student number.
- Use your student number along with the PIN number you made to log in.
- Complete the online form
- Complete all fields with exact and accurate data.
- Do not skip any required field
- Upload all the supporting documents
- Upload any necessary supporting documents in the appropriate format.
- Upload them one after the other
- Pay the Necessary application fee
- The application is free for South African Applicants and R550 for international students. This must be paid before you can submit the online application.
- Submit them for Review
- Application submission is made by clicking the submit button
- Hit the submit button after completing the online form.
Admission Advice for NWU in 2025
- Meeting the minimum admission requirements for your chosen/intended programme of study does not guarantee admission, as limited spaces are available in each programme.
- You must however meet all the minimum admission requirements for the programme you intend to study before you will be considered for admission.
- Before you apply, download the NWU prospectus and read about the statutory and university requirements of your preferred course.
- Owing to specific capacity constraints, the University reserves the right to select candidates for admission to certain fields of study. This means that prospective students who comply with the minimum requirements will not automatically be admitted to the courses in question.
- Because of the capacity limitations and the high demand from students for admission to particular fields of study, students will be selected on the basis of their Grade 12 results for admission to these fields
