Application Fee Requirement for SMU Admissions 2026
All prospective applicants applying to for undergraduate and postgraduate studies must pay a non-refundable R300 application fee for their applications to be processed. Failure to make this payment will lead to application rejection. The fee must be paid at the time of submission.
Annual Application Requirement
Applicants must submit a new application for each academic year they wish to enroll. For example, if you applied for the 2025 intake but were not accepted, you will need to reapply for the 2026 intake to be considered again.

Online Application Requirement
All applications for Sefako Makgatho University’s 2026 academic intake must be submitted either online or in person. Manual, postal, or in-person applications will not be accepted.

Application Limit for SMU Students
Students applying to Sefako Makgatho University can submit applications for a maximum of two (2) qualifications per academic year. Only the first three choices submitted will be processed. Choose wisely!
What documentation must be submitted online?
To submit a successful application to Sefako Makgatho University for the 2026 academic year, you will need the following documents:
- Certified Grade 11 end of year examination results (for those currently in grade 12) or your National Senior/Matric/IEB Certificate (if you have already completed Grade 12).
- Those rewriting NSC, must indicate on the application and submit proof of re-writing.
- Certified copies of your degree certificate(s) and academic record (if you attended or are currently a student at SMU or another university).
- Certified copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable).
