University of Fort Hare: Application Process for 2025-2026 Entry! The University of Fort Hare is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 academic year! The application portal opened on April 1 and will close on October 31, 2025.
This guide is intended for prospective undergraduate students who have recently graduated from high school and are interested in applying to the University of Fort Hare.
How to Apply:
- Gather your required documents: These may include your academic transcripts, standardized test scores (if required by your program), letters of recommendation, and proof of English language proficiency (if applicable).
- Choose your application method: You can apply online through the university’s website or submit a paper application by mail.
- Online application: The online application form can be accessed from the university’s homepage. It is recommended that you apply online as it is the faster and more efficient method.
- Paper application: If you are unable to apply online, you can download the paper application form from the university’s website and submit it by mail to the address provided.

When to Apply to the University of Fort Hare for 2025-2026
The University of Fort Hare will begin accepting applications for undergraduate programs for the 2025-2026 academic year on April 1st. Both online and manual applications will be accepted starting on this date. This means that all undergraduate courses will be open for enrollment on April 1st.
The University of Fort Hare Undergraduate Closing Dates for 2025-2026
The University of Fort Hare has different application deadlines for undergraduate programs depending on whether you are applying from South Africa or outside of South Africa.
For applicants from South Africa:
- The deadline for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses is October 31, 2024.
For applicants from outside of South Africa:
- The deadline for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses is August 31, 2024.
Important note:
- Late applications will not be accepted.
- Be sure to submit all required documents to the University of Fort Hare by the deadline.
Late Application for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses at the University of Fort Hare for 2025-2026
The University of Fort Hare will accept late applications for the 2025-2026 academic year, but only for programs with available spaces as of the closing dates. Meeting the minimum requirements for a program does not guarantee acceptance after the application deadline, as there is high competition for places in many programs.
Typically, the University accepts late applications in February. We will update this information with the confirmed date as soon as it is announced.

One (1) Certified Copy of each of the following documents must be attached: (such documents become the property of the University of Fort Hare and will not be returned)
Undergraduate
- A certified copy of your Grade 12 examination results
- Certified ID
- Provide your Grade 11 if you are yet to complete
- A valid Passport
- Medical Report
- Proof of proficiency CERTIFICATE
- Study Visa
- You can produce your birth certificate in place of your ID
- Certified copy of your marriage certificate
- Proof of payment of the compulsory and non-refundable application fee
Postgraduate
- Identity Document
- Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
- Original Proof of payment of the application fee
- Matric Certificate
- SAQA clearance certificate (foreign student)
- Academic Record, including proof that the Certificate of Conduct has been requested from the previous University / University of Technology / Technikon if you had registered at another institution

How to Apply online to the University of Fort Hare
Comply with the following steps to apply for your course at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Returning Students
- Go to our website ufh.ac.za and click Online Services at the very bottom of the page.
- Then type your Student Number and PIN that you created (If you forgot your pin, click on Forgot Pin and a new pin will be generated).
- Step 2 above will direct you to Student iEnabler where you should click on Returning Student Application.
- Click on POPI Act and accept it.
- Click Returning Student Application
- On the right side of the screen, you will see sub-headings starting with Biographical Information. As you scroll down the screen, at the bottom you will see a sub-heading School Leaving subjects
- Click Show, then click View/Update subjects
- Then update your current subjects
- At the bottom, it will ask you if you are updating your subjects, reply YES then SAVE.
- Then upload using the instructions below.
- That is Click Returning Student Application
- On the right side of the screen, you will see sub-headings starting with Biographical Information. As you scroll down the screen, at the bottom you will see a sub-heading Upload Documents
- Click Show, then click Upload Documents
Fresh Applicants

Academic applications
- As a new applicant, indicate your state by selecting NO to the questions in the drop box.
- Provide your Bio-data with precision and accuracy. These include your contact details, email address, residential address, and others.
- If you don’t tick the I Accept Box, you can’t move on with the application process. We strongly advise you to read those terms carefully before agreeing to them.
Verifications
- You will be sent an email containing your Student Number and a temporary pin. You can choose to change the pin or maintain it.
- Login now with your student number and pin.
Programme Selection
- After reviewing the individual course prerequisites, select your course.
- Download the university prospectus and consult the course requirements before applying.
- These criteria will be used to make the decision. Please rethink your choice if it does not satisfy the requirements.
Payments of the application fee
- The system will prompt you to pay the application fee either offline and upload the receipt or online using your credit cards.
Documentations
- Continue to upload the necessary documents. These papers must be scanned individually and uploaded. The scanned files shouldn’t be larger than 5MB or 572KB.
- The file formats must be in tiff, pdf, jpg, or gif.
- Remember to save every page before you proceed to the next page.
- You will lose your data if you fail to save it before you continue
Submissions
- Please ensure that you press the Submit Application button once you have completed your application to ensure that they receive it.
UFH Admission Requirements for 2024-2025
Undergraduate courses
- Applicants holding a South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) need to pass a minimum of 4 subjects at a rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in any four 20-credit NSC subjects.
- Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.
Postgraduate Courses
- The admission requirements for postgraduate study vary depending on the program. You should contact the Faculty directly to find out what is required for the course or degree that you want to pursue.
