Nelson Mandela University is pleased to announce that online applications for the 2027 academic year will officially open on Wednesday, 1 April 2026. Prospective students from South Africa and around the world are invited to apply and explore the wide selection of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes available.
Although the application portal opens for all programmes at the same time, each course has its own specific closing date. Applicants are strongly encouraged to consult the detailed deadline information provided, as the university does not accept late applications once a programme’s application period has closed.
NMU Application Closing Dates 2027
All applications, along with supporting documents, must be submitted by the following deadlines:
- 30 June 2026 – Deadline for:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB),
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm)
- Bachelor of Radiography (Diagnostic) (BRad) applications.
- 01 August 2026 – Early application deadline for all other programs
- 30 September 2026 – Final deadline for late applications

How to Apply at NMU Online for Admission 2027
Prospective applicants must carefully follow the steps outlined below to successfully submit their application form. Each step is essential and should not be skipped. To apply to the Nelson Mandela University, ensure that you complete all the required steps:
- Visit www.mandela.ac.za and navigate to the “Online Applications” section.
- Begin the process by filling out Section 1, which includes basic personal details, then click “Apply.”
- This step does not mean your application is complete or that it has been reviewed yet.
- You will receive an email requesting you to verify your email address.
- If you don’t see it in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder before reaching out to the university.
- After verification, you will get another email containing:
- A link to Section 2 of the application form.
- Your student number and PIN for login.
- Click the link, enter your student number and PIN, and proceed with the application.
- Fill in all compulsory fields (marked in red).
- Optional fields are highlighted in yellow.
- Green fields require no input.
- Upload the following documents in PDF or JPEG format.
- Certified copy of your identity document (ID) (Compulsory for SA citizens)
- Certified copy of your latest school results (Grade 11 final, or Grade 12 June/September results, or final school leaving results)
- Declaration by your parent/legal guardian/surety form (Downloaded from the university website)
- Certified copy of your parent/legal guardian/surety’s identity document
- Completed disability assessment form (If applicable)
- Full official academic record(s) and certificate(s) of conduct (From previous higher education institution(s), if applicable)
- Copy of your current residential/home or postal address
- You can also submit documents later via the admissions dashboard.
- Click “Final Submission” once all details are completed.
- After submission, no modifications can be made.
NOTE:
You will only be able to submit your online application once you have:
- Completed the full online application form
- Uploaded all the necessary scanned supporting documents in .pdf format
- Nelson Mandela University Online application is free
- If you have not clicked APPLY, your form has not been submitted
