Stellenbosch University Application Dates For 2027

Great news for all prospective Stellenbosch University students, both local and international, planning to study in the 2027 academic year. The official application timeline has now been confirmed.

This serves as a friendly reminder that the university does not operate a year-round application system. Prospective applicants are therefore encouraged to take note of the application dates to ensure they do not miss the opportunity to apply for their preferred programme.

Who Can Apply?

Stellenbosch University invites applications from individuals who wish to begin a new qualification or change to a different programme. Eligible applicants include:

• First-time applicants from South Africa and other countries
• Previous applicants who were unsuccessful in earlier application cycles
• Transfer students currently enrolled at other tertiary institutions who wish to continue their studies at Stellenbosch University

Application Requirements

Before starting your application, ensure that you have the following information and documents ready, as they may be required during the process:

• All required documents scanned and saved in PDF format for easy upload during the application process

What You Need to Know

Limited Space: Stellenbosch University receives a large number of applications each year. Due to space constraints, the university can only admit a limited number of students for each programme.

Entry Requirements: To be eligible for admission to a bachelor’s degree programme, applicants must hold a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an Independent Examinations Board (IEB) school-leaving certificate, certified by Umalusi. Applicants must have achieved at least 30% in a South African Language of Learning and Teaching (English or Afrikaans) and must have earned an achievement rating of 4 (50%–59%) in four 20-credit subjects.
