Great news for future students! Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) is now accepting applications for the 2026 academic year. The application portal will be available from Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

CPUT offers a wide range of programs in diverse fields, including Applied Sciences, Business & Management Sciences, Education, Engineering & the Built Environment, Health & Wellness Sciences, and Informatics & Design.

When can I apply at CPUT for 2026?

The application period for admission to Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) for the 2026 academic year is open from May 13, 2025, to March 15, 2026, depending on the level of qualification. This is the official period during which CPUT accepts applications from all prospective students. The application timeline for 2026 is as follows:

  • Undergraduate International Applicants: Open from May 13, 2025, to October 31, 2025
  • Undergraduate South African Students: Open from May 13, 2025, to October 31, 2025
  • Postgraduate Qualifications (Masters & PhD): Open from May 13, 2025, to March 15, 2026

What is the application fee?

Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) does not charge an application fee for online submissions. However, if an application is submitted manually, a non-refundable application fee of R100 applies. This fee must be paid in South African Rand, regardless of the applicant’s country of origin.

Fresh Application Required Each Year

Applicants reapplying after a previous unsuccessful attempt must submit a new application for each application cycle. For example, if your application for the 2025 intake was not accepted, you’ll need to submit a new application for the 2026 intake.

How to submit a manual application to CPUT?

Visit the CPUT website https://www.cput.ac.za/study/apply and follow the manual application submission process via e-mail to the respective staff members. All applications must be submitted online only.  Regretfully no manual applications will be processed unless otherwise stated in the list of 2026 programmes on the website.

Can You Apply for Multiple Qualifications?

While applying online, you can choose up to three qualifications per year. The institution will only process the first three choices received.

What documentation must be submitted online?

No Additional documentation is required to be submitted unless specifically requested by staff from the Faculty of International students See the full list below:

  • Final Grade 11 results
  • Identity Document
  • Minor Application Declaration (Less than 18 years)
  • English Proficiency
  • English Translation Final Grade 11 equivalence results
  • Final Grade 12 equivalence results
  • Letter confirming registration for upgrading of results
  • Final Grade 12/School Leaving Results
  • Academic Record: Certificate of Conduct and Qualifications obtained
  • Passport/Asylum Seeker/Permanent Residency permits
  • SAQA Certificate
  • Previous Studies & Final Grade 11 equivalence translation

Can You Apply to CPUT Online Without Contact Information?

No, applying online to CPUT requires both an email address and a cell phone number.

  • Email address: This is used to send you important updates and confirmations about your application. If you don’t have one, you can create a free account at email provider website: like Gmail.
  • Cell phone number: This allows the university to contact you directly if needed.

How to Submit Your Supporting Documents During Your CPUT Online Application

This guide explains how to submit supporting documents for your online application to CPUT, whether you’re a new applicant or a returning student.

For New Applicants (No Existing Student Number):

  • Once you complete your online application, the system will prompt you to upload supporting documents.
  • Make sure to upload the correct document for each designated certificate code.

For Returning Applicants (Existing Student Number):

  1. Select your desired programs and submit your application.
  2. Go to the “Uploading of Documents” section.
  3. Upload the required documents, matching each document to the corresponding certificate code.

How to know that your application was submitted online
