The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) has officially opened applications for the 2026–2027 academic year. Prospective students can now apply for admission to diploma, higher certificate, postgraduate diploma, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), domestic, or international entry routes.
CPUT is welcoming applicants from all backgrounds, regardless of language, race, or religion to join its diverse academic community. All interested candidates are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity by submitting their applications online at www.cput.ac.za

CPUT 2026 Admission requirements for international applicants
All undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications obtained outside South Africa must first be evaluated and verified by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) before applying to study at CPUT.
The 2026/2027 CPUT Prospectus provides detailed admission requirements for all programmes offered — both for local and international applicants. As part of the selection process, applicants may also be required to complete additional assessments or placement tests to determine their suitability for specific programmes.
Students with Cambridge qualifications should meet the following requirements:
- Passes at least five different subjects of the IGCSE and HIGCSE study levels, of which at least two are HIGCSE level subjects.
- A pass in the language which is the medium of instruction at the University (English or Afrikaans).
- Specific pass grades: IGCSE: A, B, or C; HIGCSE: 1, 2, or 3.
- Other senior school qualifications will be reviewed on merit.
Documents Required For SAQA Applications 2026-2027
SAQA will only accept online applications for the evaluation of foreign applications with the following documents for 2026-2027
- All qualification documents, i.e. the highest school certificate issued by the official examining body.
- Complete and legible transcripts of academic records in respect of all degrees or other higher education qualifications, together with the final certificates, preceding qualifications leading to any post-graduate or other advanced qualification when the latter is submitted.
- Certificates in foreign languages should be submitted with sworn translations into English by an accredited translator.

CPUT Residential Applications For 2026-2027
For accommodation for the academic year 2026-2027, RPL and international students must complete and submit a manual application form, which may be obtained from the CPUT website. This form contains an application for academic programs as well as an application for accommodation, which will be submitted to the Housing Unit. Please do not apply for residence accommodation through the Internet.
The manual academic application form, which can be obtained from the Admissions and Registration Centre or downloaded from the CPUT website, is divided into two sections: academic and housing. Manual applications will be accepted only from RPL and international students.

Study permit
You must apply for your study permit at your home country’s South African High Commission, Embassy, Consulate, or Trade Mission. You must have the following documents with you:
- A fully completed application form
- A valid and current passport
- A letter of provisional admission and a letter of undertaking from CPUT
- A medical certificate
- Proof of medical cover that will be valid in South Africa or details of arrangements made with regard to medical cover or insurance to be obtained on arrival
- A repatriation guarantee
- A study permit fee
- Medical aid coverage or insurance
- Confirmation letter from your medical aid that you will be covered while in SA.
