Opening and Closing Dates for SPU 2026 Admission

Sol Plaatje University is among the few institutions that open their application window early in the year before the intended year of study. Applications for the 2026 academic year are expected to open on April 1, 2025, and close on October 31, 2025. Late submissions are discouraged due to limited available spaces.

SPU Admission Requirements For 2026 Intake

Each course at SPU has its own specific entry requirements. To assist you, below are the minimum entry requirements for admission into Degree, Diploma and Higher certificate

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate with a Bachelor’s Degree endorsement.
  • Diploma: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate with a Diploma endorsement.
  • Higher Certificate: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate with a Higher Certificate endorsement.

In addition to the above, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  • English must be taken either as Home Language or First Additional Language
  • Mathematical Literacy will be considered for LLB, Education and Humanities
  • You must have a good Admission Points Score (APS)

Documents Required for SPU 2026 Applications

All prospective students are required by Sol Plaatje University to submit the following documents as part of the application process:

  • Currently in Grade 12
    • A certified copy of your ID
    • Final Grade 11 results
  • Completed your Grade 12/matric
    • An affidavit declaring that you have studied at another higher education institution (university or college). If you never enrolled at a university or college since completing high school, this must be declared in the affidavit.
    • A certified copy of your ID
    • Your final Grade 12 results
  • Transfer applicants:
    • An official academic transcript and a certificate of conduct from your previous college/university
    • A certified copy of your ID
    • Final Grade 12 results

How to Apply at SPU 2026

Follow the guidelines and steps below to apply to Sol Plaatje University for admission 2026

  • Use Mozilla Firefox or Chrome
  • Ensure you have stable internet
  • Go to www.spu.ac.za
  • Find and select the “STUDY@SPU” section.
  • Choose the option to apply online.
  • Provide your ID and password to register.
  • Use your ID number to access the portal.
  • Review and agree to the terms and conditions.
  • Choose your qualification from the drop-down menu or type it in.
  • After selecting your course, click “Save and Continue.”
  • Fill out all required fields in the form.
  • Agree to the rules once more.
  • Finalize your application submission.
  • Provide all necessary documents as required.
  • Submit the fee and upload proof of payment.
  • SPU will send an email confirming receipt of your application.

SPU Accommodation Applications 2026 

Sol Plaatje University provides campus housing and residence facilities to new students upon successful course registration. Applications must be submitted online and not directly at the residences.

  • The closing date for all applications is 31 October 2025. Late applications will not be accepted due to limited space.
  • NSFAS students must have a provisional or firm acceptance before being admitted into a residence.
  • Bursary students must provide proof of their bursary upon registration.
  • To apply for residence, you must indicate on the application form whether you require SPU campus accommodation.
