NMU Admission Requirements For 2026 Intake

Each program at Nelson Mandela University has specific entry requirements. To be considered for selection into a higher certificate, diploma, and degree program, applicants must meet the following basic criteria:

  • Higher Certificate: Applicants must pass the National Senior Certificate (NSC) with at least 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the institution, along with any additional university requirements.
  • Diploma: Candidates must pass the NSC with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the institution and obtain an achievement rating of 3 (40–49%) or higher in four recognized 20-credit NSC subjects, in addition to meeting other university requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Students must pass the NSC with at least 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the institution and achieve a minimum rating of 4 (50–59%) in four 20-credit NSC subjects, along with fulfilling any additional university requirements

  • Certified copy of your latest school results (Grade 11 final, or Grade 12 June/September results, or final school leaving results)

  • Once your email is verified, you will receive another email with a link to Section 2.
  • The email will also include your student number and PIN.
  • Click the link, enter your student number and PIN to continue.

  • Yellow-highlighted fields are optional.

Nelson Mandela University provides campus housing and residence facilities to new students upon successful course registration. Applications must be submitted online and not directly at the residences.

  • A selection process is conducted, prioritizing applicants with excellent academic results.
