UJ Online Application 2027: Opening Date, Deadlines & How to Apply

The University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) 2027 applications are set to open in April 2026. If you are interested in studying your dream course at UJ, you are invited to complete the 2027 online application form at www.uj.ac.za.

Who is Eligible?

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) accepts applicants who wish to start a new qualification or transfer to a different programme. Eligible applicants include:

  • New and previous applicants
  • International students
  • Domestic students without a UJ student number
  • Mature students
  • Postgraduate and undergraduate applicants
  • Grade 11 and Grade 12 learners

Note: Once you meet the academic entry requirements, you are eligible to apply, even if your category is not listed above.

When UJ Opens and Closes 2027 Applications

The 2027 application window for the University of Johannesburg (UJ) is confirmed to be open from April 1 to October 31, 2026.

Some courses, however, will close earlier than this date, so it is important to check if your preferred course has an earlier deadline.

Once the application window for your course has passed, you will have to wait for the next application cycle. Apply as early as possible to secure your spot.

What You Need to Apply

Applications at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) can be submitted online or manually.

To apply online, you will need:

  • A valid email address
  • An active phone number
  • Identity documents
  • A smart device (computer, tablet, or smartphone)
  • A compatible web browser
  • Soft copies of all supporting documents

To apply manually, you will need:

  • Photocopies of all supporting documents
  • Application fee (non-refundable)

How to Apply Online

Go to www.uj.ac.za, click on Apply Online, and select New Application to begin your application process.

Choose two preferred study programmes and ensure all required supporting documents are uploaded.

After submitting your application, you will receive an instant email confirmation containing your student number and application details.

Required Supporting Documents and How to Submit Them

Undergraduate Applicants:

  • South African applicants with no previous studies: No supporting documents are required.
  • South African applicants transferring from another institution: Must submit previous/current academic record or transcript.
  • International applicants: Must submit certified passport, school leaving results, and current/previous academic record or transcript (if applicable).

Postgraduate Applicants:

  • South African applicants: Must submit previous/current academic record or transcript.
  • International applicants: Must submit certified passport and current/previous academic record or transcript.

How to Submit Supporting Documents:

  • Email your documents to ujappdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za.
  • Include your UJ reference/student number in the subject line.
  • Each scanned file should be no larger than 512 KB.
  • Accepted file formats: TIFF, PDF, JPG, GIF, or PNG.
  • Attach each document separately and clearly name each file according to the document type.

UJ 2027 Academic Requirements

You must meet the following qualifications to be considered for UJ 2027:

1. Current Grade 12 Learners

  • Submit your final Grade 11 results to apply.
  • UJ does not accept Grade 12 mid-term results.

2. Grade 12 Graduates

  • Submit your final Grade 12 results.

3. Applicants Upgrading Their Grade 12 Results

  • Indicate during the application process that you are upgrading your Grade 12 results by ticking the box: “Are you currently upgrading your Grade 12 results?”

4. Applicants Transferring from Another Higher Education Institution (HEI)

  • Meet the minimum qualification requirements using your final Grade 12 results.
  • Declare all previous/current studies, even if incomplete or in a different field.
  • Submit your latest academic record/transcript.
