What is the NSFAS funding for 2024?
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a bursary offered to South African university and technical college students to help with the complete cost of tuition, registration, accommodation, food, transportation, and course materials. All students enrolled in accredited NSFAS courses at universities or Tvet Colleges will benefit from a reduction in their financial load. Nsfas-approved students are also granted monthly allowances to cover daily costs while pursuing their education.
How much will NSFAS Pay for 2024?
NSFAS will pay the full cost of a student’s tuition and registration fee for the academic year 2024. These fees will be paid directly to the enrolled university or Tvet College on behalf of the approved student. Students who pay the tuition fee and registration before the arrival of NSFAS funds can apply for a refund from the university or college.
The allowances paid by NSFAS to an accepted college student at a Tvet college to cover the cost of housing, food, textbooks, transportation, and daily expenses totalling R33,900 (student in urban area), R28,800 (student in the peri-urban area), and R25,650 (student in a rural area) are known as direct payments to NSFAS beneficiaries.
Students enrolled in any public university will receive a bursary or allowance to cover the accommodation according to the real fees levied by the institution. Students who live in privately owned apartments on or off campus will not get an additional allowance from NSFAS. To cover the cost of books, personal care, transportation, and living expenses, NSFAS will pay a maximum allowance of R30,600.
