The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has finally announced the official start date for the academic year 2024/2025. The final date for accepting new students into the various programs and courses has been announced after much deliberation with the school’s administration. If you want to attend this university for the academic year 2024/2025, make sure you meet all of the admissions requirements. Since the application deadline has passed, we will go over what applicants need to know to apply for admission to the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).
Documents required for the admissions process in 2024/2025
The documents listed below are required for the application process. The majority of applications are rejected because applicants did not upload or submit all required documents. To avoid disappointment, make sure to submit the following documents during the application period:
- Certified copy of your ID/passport.
- Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate or O/A Levels or relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
- Proof from Universities South Africa (previously known as HESA), that you qualify for admission to degree studies at South African universities. (International Applicants only)
- Certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct (Transfer applicants only)
- Proof of English proficiency for international applicants from non-English speaking countries.
- South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluations if the previous qualification(s) was/were obtained at foreign universities (outside South Africa).
- A research proposal/proposed title of the dissertation/thesis if you are applying for a Masters’s Degree or PhD.
- A valid study visa to study in SA (International Applicants only)
- USAF/SAQA documents are to be uploaded in order to complete your application. (International Applicants only)

When is the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) application open for 2024/2025: The administration of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is pleased to announce that admissions for 2024/2025 will begin on March 1 2023. This is the only time applicants can apply for admission to their desired courses or programs. All new and returning applicants who are interested in the available courses should apply. Their portals and other application tools will be available after March 1 2023.
The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) application fee for the 2024/2025 academic year has officially begun.
Proactive management has also published the cost of applying to the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) for the 2024/2025 academic year. Beginning April 1, 2023, the administration fee will be accepted. Applicants will be able to pay for their applications once the portal is operational. This fee cannot be paid before the first day of classes at the university. After beginning the online or manual application process, applicants should prepare their fees and make payments. Applicants are also advised not to pay this fee to a third party because the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) accepts it through its payment channels, which are listed on the official website.

In my experience, having those documents ready in uploadable form aids the online application process. You must upload scanned copies of your documents for 2024/2025.
