Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) is currently accepting applications for a wide range of programmes for the 2026 academic year. Admissions are still in progress, but all undergraduate programme applications will close by September 30, 2025.

Prospective students are encouraged to apply as early as possible to secure their place. Applications opened on May 12, 2025, and include undergraduate degrees, diplomas, higher certificates, postgraduate diplomas, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees. Due to limited intake capacity for 2026, early submission is strongly recommended.

While applications for Master’s and Doctoral programmes remain open until March 14, 2026, all undergraduate programme applications will close at the end of September 2025. Applicants are urged to complete and submit a fully completed application form, along with all outstanding supporting documents, as soon as possible to secure their place for the 2026 academic year.

Although the management encourages all applicants to submit their 2026 applications online via www.cput.ac.za, submitting a hard copy application is still acceptable. However, there is a caveat: unless otherwise stated, all applications should be submitted online.

Follow the steps below to complete the CPUT 2026 online applications:

  • Visit the CPUT 2026 application website HERE.
  • Click on ‘Apply Now’ under Step 4 on the left side of the page.
  • Select ‘No’ from the first two questions in the drop-down list.
  • Check the POPI Act box.
  • Provide your personal information.
  • Select your course (choose three (3) study courses).
  • Upload the required documents as part of your application.
  • The online application is free.
  • Review all the information you’ve entered to ensure accuracy.
  • Once satisfied, submit your online application.

What are the Required Documents?

Your application must include a number of documents. No original documents should be sent; only certified copies should be attached to your manual application form. Document copies can be certified at a police station.

  • A certified copy of the first page of your Identity Document/Card.
  • Proof of your highest level of school education.
  • International students must submit a valid study visa and proof of medical insurance for the duration of their studies

Domestic students need a working email address and ID number, while international students need their passport number to complete the online application form for 2026. For hard-copy applications, applicants can download and print it out to complete it with a pen.

Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) Application Fee for 2026

As stated earlier, you are encouraged to apply online as it is free of charge. A non-refundable application fee of R100 is required if you are applying manually (using a hard copy). You must attach the receipt of the application fee payment to your application and mail it to the official postal address.

Any manual application submitted without proof of payment will be automatically rejected. Please ensure that payment is made on or before September 30, 2025, for undergraduate applications, and on or before March 14, 2026, for postgraduate applications, as the 2026 application period will close on those respective dates.

To avoid future delays or complications, you must upload proof of payment directly during the application process.

All South African students who are currently enrolled or plan to enroll in any undergraduate courses at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in January 2026, and whose family or household annual gross income is not more than R350,000, are eligible to apply for an NSFAS bursary. This is the primary requirement for receiving funding for your undergraduate studies from NSFAS. Once you meet the other requirements, you will be entitled to receive:

How to Track CPUT Application Status For 2026

Once you have submitted your application form, you can monitor its progress through CPUT’s online system. Every step of the application process will be displayed on the application dashboard.

The official status checker portal at www.cput.ac.za/status-check will be available from the start of the application cycle until the next one. You can visit the dashboard anytime using your student number and PIN to check your current status for the 2026 academic intake. The final decision will be sent to you via email or SMS.

Follow the steps below to check your CPUT 2026 application status

  • Go to the Status portal at the bottom of this page to track your progress.
  • Once the page has been opened, enter your ID, passport, or asylum number as it appears on your application form.
  • You may also use your student ID (Optional)
  • Finally, fill in your full first name.
  • To check the status, go to the GET MY APPLICATION STATUS tab.

Important Information

The status form only works with the ID number you filled in on your initial application form or with a valid student number.

If you have been conditionally accepted and have been admitted as well, you may still need to submit some documents to finalize your admission
